We agreed to undertake a campaign to advocate for recognition as the "Boston University Black Alumni Network". Although it will not be a formal association, it will eliminate confusion and give us a school approved "identity". To learn more, please attend next quarter's Huddle.

A special guest, Alexis Redman, joined us on the call to discuss ways to become more involved as Black alum.
Alexis is a 2014 BU graduate from the Questrom School of Business. She is also the Chair of the BU Young Alumni Council, an advisory group of young alumni leaders chosen to represent, engage and connect with recent graduates of the university. Alexis discussed the Young Alumni Council, her role as the chair, provided information on how to apply to be a part of the council and answered general questions about alumni involvement and engagement.
Young Alumni Council Overview
The council is relatively new, created 3 years ago
The council aims to increase engagement of young alumni, promote volunteerism and philanthropic support, as well as advise the University and the Alumni Association on ways to advance the interests of BU’s young alumni community
Nominations have closed for applying to the council for the upcoming academic year, but these are the links to the Young Alumni website and the nomination form for anyone interested next year: https://www.bu.edu/alumni/get-involved/alumni/young-alum-council/ & https://www.bu.edu/alumni/bu-young-alumni-council-nominations/
The success of the young alumni council is heavily due to them having an administrative liaison who works in the Alumni office who advocates on their behalf
